✧・゚: *✧ ♡ Vampires can do no wrong.

When I'm not sitting under fluorescent lights, headphones in, typing away at work, I am enjoying my own company. My favorite places to spend time are in my room among my plushies and dolls, at the park, the bookstore, or engaging in parallel play with someone. My personality is reserved, quiet, introverted, and I am also neurodivergent. Currently, I am very slowly trying to curate a gothic/EGL wardrobe as this has been my dream since childhood.

For what feels like ages, I have been burnt out and hoping to spark my creativity again. Due to low energy I am slow to reply, but please know I appreciate when I notice people reaching out.

Thank you for reading ! ✧・゚: *✧ ♡

1. Please introduce yourself.
Hello, I am Dollie. A fitting name for someone who loves dolls and dressing myself up like I am one.
2. How long have you been making websites?
As far as minimally tinkering with existing code, I have edited themes on tumblr and various websites since childhood.

I’ve coded full websites in university, but I didn’t code a full personal website until early 2025 a handful of years later.

In general, I’ve made websites using templates with WIX, Wordpress and carrd for fun and for volunteer work.
3. And what got you into the hobby?
I grew up using computers and playing computer games and have admired so many websites/UI designs over the years. When I was too young to have my own laptop (computer room days) I would create cardboard laptops and design different website pages on printer paper to tape to the screen.

I adore customizing anything and everything I get my hands on. It’s like medicine to me. I decorate everything to my taste, so webpages naturally fall into that space. The maximalism and wackiness of 2000s webpages must have made an impression on me.
4. What kind of website are you most interested in?
Personal website filled with ocs and the webmasters general thoughts be it a dairy, blog, art or well….anything ! I find other people’s lives intriguing from afar despite not being a people person and having a low social battery.
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?
I have a vague idea of what I want the website to contain. If I try to thoroughly plan it out, it will never get done. I write code, create a few pages that I absolutely hate and it somehow falls into place eventually.
6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.
I am inspired here and there.
7. What's your favourite part about making websites?
The IDE is my canvas and my code is the brush. I love learning, making mistakes that turn out to make my webpage look more unique, and just…the journey of creating my own aesthetic space that is all mine !
8. And the thing you struggle with the most?
Organization. My code is so messy and inconsistent because I get code from my other pages, and snippets from resource websites or documentation. Also organizing my folder as well. Organized chaos.
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?
Oh goodness no, which is why everything is SOOO messy ! Every page’s layout is different to serve a purpose. I do reuse some for my galleries, though.
10. How confident are you with CSS?
I know enough to be dangerous, but still have a long way to go with knowing what it’s fully capable of.
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?
Sure, even though I don’t use it.
12. What is your favourite HTML element?
<nav> ! Customizing the CSS is SOOO fun at the moment!
13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?
I come up with a mental concept of the layout depending on the purpose of the page, gather my assets and go from there. I also grab some code from my other pages, so I don’t have to type from scratch.
14. Do you know JavaScript?
Somewhat. But I am trying to change this. I mostly rely on documentation/snippets.
15. How about PHP?
I’ve used it once or twice for forms, but I am rusty.
16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?
Creepy cute, cute, lace, gothic etc
17. Are you more focused on content or design?
Both live together in harmony.
18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?
I do not, but may in the future.
19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?
I enjoy browsing them, but not often.
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?
I don’t. If my page isn’t broken, or if I see no errors…… I assume it's valid.
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?
They’re another creative outlet. I enjoy seeing what people come up with, and drawing my own banner is helping me slowly break free of art block.
22. What do you think of button walls in particular?
They’re cool and sometimes help me find websites or graphics that I otherwise would not find.
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?
I would make something similar. I tend to stick to the same themes with whatever I do. I am a creature of habit.
24. Are you envious of other people's websites?
I suppose so, which is why I take inspiration from them and it encourages me to learn more, so I can create a better website.
25. What text editor do you use?
Visual Studio Code. Naturally, with a pink theme.
26. Why do you use that one?
The webpage view extension is helpful, along with short cuts, and cute themes. It’s easy to use, and I use it to write other code as well.
27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?
My own web server
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?
I don’t know, I just work here.
29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?
Definitely over 1GB lol
30. Do you keep local backups of your files?
Yes, I do. You should too.
31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?
Highly visual. Flex your creativity.
32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?
Subconscious at this point, because I know what I like.

I have not! Let’s see how things unfold.
34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?
It is a solitary hobby, but I welcome webmaster friends.
35. Do people in your real life know about your website?
A few people.
36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?
Currently, I update it a few times a week. Sometimes the novelty wears off and I may not update it for a few months.
37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?
I change designs often, but I am getting into the flow of things, so it is usually just me improving the functionality.
38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?
A little bit of everything !
39. Do you do web design professionally?
Nooooo
40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?
In a perfect world, I wouldn’t mind living off savings for a bit and dabbing in freelance work once I learn more. I could not do it for a living for long because it would take the fun out of it.
I currently work an office job.
41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?
Sometimes. Mostly with a purpose and not for casual chats but that may change one day.
42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?
I do, but mostly to lurk.
43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?
I go mainstream.
44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?
Yes ! Check out my music page :)

I have one website.
46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?
Many, as this is a personal website and my target audience is me *wink*.

I present my real self.

I am largely content, though this may change once I get more experience.

Auto play is the first thing that comes to mind.
51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?
Not sure at the moment !
52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?
Both, and sometimes at the same time. I am very messy with code and sometimes switch it up when I am in a different mindset when I open the file.
53. Do you consider different browsers?
I do not. (Do you want me to apologize?)
54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.
I don’t have one. Between work, leisure, and mobile I use Google Chrome, Duckduckgo, Opera, Brave and formerly used Firefox years ago.
